Green Growth Energy Services was founded in August 2009 in Nicosia, Cyprus by George Lordos, Erol Riza and Tamer Zaim with the objective to be the first ESCO (Energy Services Company) in Cyprus.

In October 2009, the company was retained by a major bank to carry out an energy audit of its prestigious headquarters building in Nicosia. To mark the entry of the company into the Cypriot market, the founders held a well-attended speaker evening with the theme Energising Europe on 17 November 2009, with presentations by the Minister of Trade, Industry & Tourism, the EU Representative the Commisioner for the Environment and the company founders. Green Growth Energy Services were honored by the presence of prominent representatives from both communities, including former President George Vassiliou, Former Minister of Agriculture Costas Themistocleous, the heads of the Greek and Turkish Cypriot Chambers of Commerce and the head of the Turkish Cypriot Association of Electrical Engineers.
